  1. Improve educational services for incarcerated youth

  1. Less lockup, more treatment for youth

Pass "pending placement" legislation (HB 530) to reduce waiting time for youth in detention facilities. Call House Judiciary Committee Chairman Joseph F. Vallario to urge that the Judiciary Committee approve this bill. Phone: (1-800-492-7122, ext. 3488) or (410) 841-3488.

  1. Keep Kids Out of Maryland's Adult Jails

Pass "transfer" legislation (HB 520) to keep kids out of Maryland's adult prisons and treat children as children. Call Delegate Bobby Zirkin to pass the bill out of the Juvenile Law Ssubcommittee. Phone: (1-800-492-7122, ext. 3342) or (410) 841-3342. or robert_zirkin@house.state.md.us
