
Lisa Garry
DMC Policy DirectorLisa Garry is the DMC Policy Director with the Center for Children’s Law and Policy (CCLP) in Washington, DC. She is responsible for managing the Models for Change DMC Action Network, a project of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation to support successful local and state DMC reduction initiatives throughout the country. Key aspects of her work with the Network involve promoting data-driven DMC reduction strategies and increasing peer-to-peer learning opportunities that help deepen the national knowledge base about DMC as an issue and effective solutions to eliminate disparate system practices that lead to over-representation.
Lisa has worked in diverse facets of the juvenile justice field, including direct care in secure facilities; case management; interagency coordination; youth and family program development; and various detention reform initiatives. Prior to joining CCLP in 2007, Lisa worked as the DMC Coordinator for Baltimore City and with the W. Hayward Burns Institute as an independent consultant. In addition to her position with CCLP, Lisa also consults with the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) in Baltimore City.
Lisa earned her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Baltimore. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and currently resides in Baltimore City, MD with her son, Avery.
