Resources for Disproportionate Minority Confinement/
Overrepresentation of Youth of Color

In virtually every state, at every stage of the juvenile justice system, youth of color are over represented and receive disparate treatment, particularly in secure confinement.

The "Fact Sheets" provides basic facts on the federal law requiring states to address racial disparities in the juvenile justice system and state-by-state profiles. The "Resources" list provide contact information for national organizations actively involved in advocacy efforts to reduce racial disparities in the juvenile justice system, and the "Summary" highlights major studies that document the need to reduce racial disparities in the juvenile justice system.
